Any questions you have before you begin buying, building and installing.

My son and I are building two wrecked 2001 Land Rover Discovery 2’s with the 4.0 into a single running vehicle for his first car. Since both vehicles were salvage, they have had their electronics pillaged and we are lacking the fuse box, ECU, and BCU. They have a full drive line and I have installed an engine/transmission/transfer case kit that was purchased as “running”… we will see.
Rather than buy a BOSCH MOTRONIC M5.2.1that is expensive and limited on tuning (https://thewedgeshopstore.com/bosch-mot ... or-engine/) , we were planning on a speeduino. This may or may not have to be paired with a BCU, I do not know what I do not know at this point. Thus far I have begun building a link repository, hopefully knowledgeable people here can kickstart my project! Thank you!

If using Speeduino the immo shouldn’t be an issue but if we need a BCU then it may?

EWS is can not be removed from m5.2.1 Don't waste time trying. EWS only affects engine start for the original equipment ecm. M5.2.1 also used in 1998 BMW 540i. That's what I have. M5.2.1 was only used one year for the M62 V8 because it was a transitional time. Vanos variable timing not yet implemented. Change from M60 engine to M62 engine was a simultaneous change mechanically, to later facilitate fitting vanos. There are no tunerpro configuration files available. Don't waste time chasing that. Probably because m5.2.1 used appropriately one year.. I'm just getting started regarding speeduino also. I'm installing a supercharger eventually to 1998 bmw 540i. Also, the prior m5.2 engine software, from the prior m60 engine can run the m62 nonvanos engine. M5.2 ews can be deleted. The are tuner pro configuration files out there.. ive no knowledge how complete. Ive considered using a m5.2 engine harness. For me from an e34.

Speeduino seems a better choice. Unfortunately for me the transition period included a change in ecm connector from 88pin single to multi plug. Pin out for the ready made speeduino circuit boards are 88 pin single. I need an adapter to be able to plug n play into stock m5.2.1 engine harness. Which is what my 540i has.

Anyone know where to obtain? Adapt 88pin single (ecm side) to multiplug car harness side.

You sure you have m5.2.1? BWW didn't acquire range rover until 2002? Missing engines were rover pushrod v8s. Not bmw. I had a old discovery......don’t remember a thing about its ecm. Problem was poorly machined rover engine.
