Hi I bought a car I want to rebuild and I'm looking for guidance before I commit to buying anything until I have an idea of what I will need to have it all work together.
Engines
The engine bay is very small but I want a 6 cylinder not an inline 4. Options that I have found are:
-Honda goldwing gl1500 boxer 6 sohc 2 valve per cylinder. 100hp 130nm torque
-mazda mx-3 1.8 v6 dohc 140hp 170nm
-mazda JDM 2.0 v6 DOHC 170hp 190nm
Or 2.5 v6 DOHC 200hp 220nm
-chrysler avenger Mitsubishi motor 2.5 v6 sohc 4 valve p cylinder 150hp 200nm
Ecu only needs to control motor and possibly transmission and turbo.
-ive looked at many stand-alone ecu which are very expensive. I'm wondering if there is a kit available like a mega squirt that has everything needed including could with whatever else is needed to run everything?
I have basic knowledge of how a car works. I've read alot but no where closed to cover everything that is needed to make an engine work. That's why I'm hoping I can buy something that has instructions on how to connect it all to the motor.
Transmission
-i can get an adapter for any rwd transmission for these engines. The stock Opel transmission can only take 150hp. It only 14 inches long
- I'm looking at a ford tremec t5
-getrag 240, 260 I'm told are all small enough to fit.
If anyone knows of another that can take the 250-350hp I want, please let me know. In reality I want the car to look good for car shows as well as sound good. It will be a daily driver so 200hp is good enough but it would be nice to be able to spank a 4000lbs 500hp c8 corvette with my 1800lbs baby corvette (Opel gt)
Again if anyone can suggest a ecu kit for a boxer 6 or a v6 tiny twin turbo engine I would be forever greatful.
I've started this project wanting to learn to build this myself to show everyone that a woman can make a nice powerful car too. I'm not going to think I'm not going to need help starting from scratch.
Originally I found a engine I thought I could just drop in but...
