PSIG wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 5:23 pm As you are on Missing Tooth decoder, reading the missing teeth is important for sync and resulting rpm. Assuming the probes were connected to + and - correctly, the sensor polarity is reversed. This can interfere with reading the missing teeth for sync properly.

I would swap the sensor wires on the board input and set Trigger Edge for Rising (if MiniMAX-A2 conditioner) or set for Falling (if DSC), as a first step to set baseline configuration.
Hi!

I tried installing everything from scratch, still rpm on TunerSt is half of what the timing gun is. If you look at the crank scope img I posted, it should show around 300+ RPM. Why the software reads half of actual engine’s RPM? The timing gun reads exactly twice what TS showing

Please advice!

you bet! thank you so much

please let me know if more logging is needed or anything I need to do differently

Just heads up, I've changed the Primary Trigger to CAM instead of CRANK ( cam sensor still disconnected), then RPM went twice up also on the timing gun

also changed the trigger pattern to distributor just for sanity check, RPM went so high up, but still twice as much on timing gun

changed No. of Cylinders 2, 4, 8, nothing changes

Thanks -
just to confirm - you've actually got a 60-2 wheel on your crank, and a single tooth on your cam, correct?
I think your timing gun is showing 2x the actual reading, because your timing gun assumes each spark it sees is a revolution.
(but since you have configured wasted COP, there will be two sparks per revolution per cylinder).

Confirming 60-2 wheel on crank
Will confirm cam wheel, it is disconnected though

So what do you recommend to check my timing ?

I will use a strobe light with tape on the pulley and read the rpm!

So shall I just set the Spark output mode to Sequential ( which is my setup) and re test? Do I need cam signal to run it this way?

when the CAM sensor was connected, the RPM signal kept dropping to zero, and getting half-sync msg, I need to double check my cam sensor type (VR / HALL) and CAM trigger wheel before moving forward

I was just explaining why your timing gun is reading double. If you're happy with how the engine runs, leave it be.
if you have a reason to get it working sequential, then I guess it's on to that.
Why go to the trouble of sequential?

Because when I’m trying to check my timing, the timing pulley is going all over the place. Trying to find my TDC and sensor angle. Does that make sense?
