For anything related to the 'official' Speeduino boards (Eg v0.3, v0.4 etc)

Can anyone help with this issue: Engine is a BMW 1150cc horizontally opposed twin (boxer).
It has two spark plugs per cylinder to optimise ignition efficiency. It employs a 60-2 trigger wheel with a VR sensor on the crank and (not yet investigated) a hall effect cam position sensor.

I have been told the following info:
The VO.4 board, has 4 channels, and is designed for 4/8 cylinder engines. It will run engines with less cylinders, by not connecting up any excess channels. Also with the blank board, you do not need to install the components needed for the unused channels. However, I do not think you could use the excess channels to drive the additional spark plug on each cylinder. I don't think the firmware will support this configuration.
Can anyone shed some light on what would be the best board for this build?
Would the NO2C do the job or would an igniter that handles dual coils/plugs be needed... Is this even an actual device that exists?

Most of the boards out there will fulfill your needs, as long as it has a min of 2ch then you will be fine
The no2c is a 2ch design and is one of the most popular 2ch designs yet.
You twin plug engine is not an issue for any of the boards.
Almost all(if not all) of the speedy boards need an external ignitor module.

Thankyou for your responses, I have come to realise that much of this info is in the Speeduino pdf manual rather than the wiki... I am still trying to locate as much info as I can. Something I'm not seeing is this:

If the engine has knock sensors and idle actuators should these be discarded or can they be incorporated into the speedy ecosystem?

Some idle actuators can be yes.

Knock sense is not available on speedy at this time.

Any extra sensors an engine has can just be left , no need to physically remove them.

Would the Stepper Driver DRV8825 work with the NO2C board... Or are the stepper drivers built in to drive the idle actuators.

Shopping list so far:

The Arduino Mega:
https://wtmtronics.com/product/arduino- ... cable=None

Mini Max A2 Signal conditioner (to use VR sensors with NO2C) :
https://wtmtronics.com/product/mini-max ... tioner-vr/

NO2C board with panel connectors:
https://wtmtronics.com/product/no2c-v0- ... ensor=None

Components to populate NO2C Board
https://wtmtronics.com/product/no2c-v0- ... anel+Mount

Are the wideband O2 sensors sold likely to be a drop-in replacement for my existing sensors or do oxygen sensor diameter, thread size/pitch differ?

No2c need the stepper driver boards ( they just plug in like on a v04 series board.

Yes most all O2 sensors these days have same threads so are swappable (wide band or narrow , makes no difference)

Thankyou dazq for that info. I'll add the stepper driver boards along with two oxygen sensors + controllers to my shopping list.

Don't forget that although speedy does have the ability to read 2 O2 sensors only one has any influence on the fueling. The second channel can be viewed and logged .
You will need to add the second O2 input components on pretty much any board out there

Are you saying NO2C board needs extra components to use 2nd O2 sensor or other boards can but NO2C can never fuel using 2 x O2 inputs? Sorry I don't know much about these sensors but I just spent more on controllers and sensors than on the rest of the kit combined. :o
