I jumpered the throttle body to my N02c. TPS works, MAP is compatible with built in Denso profile as far as i can tell.

And this is the nightmare carb I am replacing:

I also have a vacuum thermoswitch thats going away, and a couple of vacuum solenoids. One of those may return if I can figure out a way to use it for my EGR valve. But thats advanced tuning down the road. I will also need to provide a tps signal from speeduino to the transmission controller since the old TPS is now gone.

In the engine bay, I have removed a bunch of "stuff" that I dont anticipate needing. Part of the governor was missing so I took it off, there was a bunch of other bits that needed to go as well. So its looking slightly less cluttered.

Holding the throttle body up where it needs to go. I am 99% certain I can either reuse the original intake tube to the airbox, or a simply put a silicone 90 degree elbow on there.

Next step is building the adapter plate. All of the motorcycle carb boots I have are too small. The throttle body is 34mm bore but is sized more like a 38-40mm carb spigot. The only single stuff I have that runs a carb that big is xr400 and it uses a funky three bolt setup that would be useless. The trx 420 the throttle body comes from has a spigot on the head and the coupler is a straight rubber tube. I will order a new boot today which fits the throttle body.

Some consulting with a CB300R service manual confirms the sensor pack from that bike has an internal IAT. The CBR throttle body looks to be the same except for the throttle setup is not a single cable enclosed unit, but rather open push-pull like most four stroke motorcycles. I can either swap sensor packs ($48), purchase a used CBR throttle body and steal its sensor pack ($60-100) or continue on with the GM IAT.

I'm using a Rancher 420 throttle body and it does not have IAT. I guess the cheaper ATV has a different TPS/MAP Sensor. The rancher had a separate IAT but I didnt get it off the bike....

Are you going to try to swap a CB sensor over? I like to know if it works. Then again I'm cheap and I'll probably use a HYUNDAI IAT I got for free.....

There's a link to the service manual over on the quadcrazy forumn..

My rancher throttle body does not have one either. I have found the sensor pack from the cbr, which looks exactly like the atv sensor pack, for around $50 dollars. I am pretty cheap, but $50 bucks isnt bad for a new sensor pack thats all three basic sensors. Thanks for the link :) I grabbed that one before I think. I found the cbr manual on manualslib i think.

Still waiting on an ignition switch and a CBR sensor pack. And I need to order the stepper driver. Its still sitting in my cart. Even though I have the GM IAT, I want to use the sensors in the throttle body.

The boot fit the intake and throttle body perfectly, except there is a gap so the transition isnt as smooth as I would like. I may turn a ring on the lathe later to fill this area.

Fitting the boot to the intake involved the purchase of two M8x1.25x25 allen head bolts. Then just mount it up. I removed the clamp to make putting the throttle body on and off easier as I fit things.

I will need to source a new elbow for the air filter. The throttle body is smaller on the filter side than the carb.

I will make a little link out of flat steel bar to replace the green wire. It is just there to mock up the pull to make sure my angles and travel distances are reasonable. A hole for a pin to go in the arm, and a hole with a slit for the cable in a small piece of 1/4" flat bar should see it working. I may also end up making and adjustable throttle stop to prevent wear and tear on the cable.

Last bit of work for the evening was making sure the stepper and sensor pack connectors fit. Everything looks good here and I am ready to begin creating the harness.

Raven007,

Mind sharing the Homing and Stepper settings for that IAC? I am building a system for my CRF250L that uses the same throttle body. Is that the throttle body from the Rancher 420? If so do you have any information in regards to injector characterization? Just curious as I know I am getting near the edge of my stock injector's capacity.

Edit: mind grabbing the diameter of that throttle body? I know the one I currently have is 38mm, stock was 36mm.

Thanks in advance,
