Help with building your Speeduino, installing it, getting it to run etc.

Hey guys

My name is Thomas from Germany and I planed to use a Speeduino for my GA16DE swap project on my Nissan Micra K11.

Well the engine is already installed but is currently only running with the control unit from the old 1.0l engine. The damn NATS immobilizer does not allow operation with the GA16 ECU. But since I have actually already planned a Speeduino in the future (I already know that the power will not be enough for me) I prefer the whole thing now.

I bought a Motronic board by Raku some time ago because, among other things, it already has a circuit to switch the ECCS relay. I also think that it fits perfectly into the Bosch ECU of the Micra.

Now I am at the point of planning everything and ordering the components, but I am already running into a few problems.

Here is a Pic of the Schematic of Rakus Board.
Image

1. How do I connect the optical CAS sensor to the Speeduino?

Yesterday I racked my brains about how the whole thing should work and how the jumpers have to be set so that it works.
Here is pic from the Schematic of the distrubtor incl. position sensor.

2. How does the ignition work here?
I honestly have no idea how the connection should be made here. Am I right in thinking that the Rakus board has internal ignition drivers? Can I then drive the coil directly via pin 3 and the resistor?

3. The engine has a MAF sensor, so no IAT sensor.

Can the temperature be measured using the MAF sensor if I remove the power supply? After all, the MAF sensor is a heated temperature sensor.

4. The engine is cooled using a Pierburg CWA pump. I built and programmed a special board for this, but it would be really cool if it could also be controlled via the Speeduinio. Is that possible?

Thanks for your help.

Many of your questions are answered in the speeduino wiki

1- use 4 slot pattern on stock disc with basic distributor settings.

2 - highly suggest you don't connect anything before you figure out your coil specs. Dumb or smart coil etc. After you figure that out. Use the diagram in the wiki.

3 - add a iat sensor.

Since that I got a Blitzbox a few things have changed.

But here some solutions for my previous problems.

1. Connecting Nissan CAS.
I take the wire from OEM Pin 31 and connected to VR+.
Now at the Blitzbox also have to set a pull-up resistor to 5V.
For the Raku board, which was planned first, I would have to set the jumper SJ2.

To the ignition output problem... The problem was me. :?
The resistance confused me. But it is simply a feedback signal to the control unit as to whether the ignition was activated or not.
So it is a simple IGBT driven Coil controlled by Pin 1 on the OEM ECU.

2. IAT Sensor

I just installed a new one here. You are right... it is easier

4. CWA Pump control
I'll leave it as it is for now. I'll leave the external control as it is, but connect it to the secondary communication port of the Blitzbox (hopefully the Blitzbox has this port) and then get additional sensor data that I need for the control.

At the moment I have finished installing the lightning box in the original engine control unit housing and changed my wiring harness to the storm box. Unfortunately I currently still have a ground loop so that the control unit is always supplied with voltage. But the error is most likely 100% mine... I just have to find the error.

Stay tuned. ;)

Hi Thomas,
yes, the Blitzbox has the secondary serial port on its pinheaders.

Nobody has used this port in real life until now, but thanks god we got a beta tester now....
Best regards,
chris
