Check when attaching the hose, that you havn't inadvetantly cut the inside of the hose with the spigot. Depending which end of the hose you are, with said cut, it's not impossible for the fuel pressure to push a cut flap to block the line.

You should have a fuel filter somewhere!

The connections, supply & return, are both the OEM BMW quick connects. The fuel filter is a gauze mesh intake connected to the fuel pump inside the tank. As I said in a previous post, it has a hole worn in the gauze where it has been rubbing against the inside of the tank.

Ok so back into it.... until the yuletide season is upon us anyhow.
i have received the new right-angle fuel quick-connect and installed it. I have left the whole pump/electrical and fuel connection unit floating so I was able to turn speedy on and view the fuel return during injector prime stage. Fuel is returning to the tank at good pressure so no blockages as previously suspected.
i can't get the engine to idle without stalling and it sounds like it's knocking badly but that could be timing too.
I am going to see if i can locate the throttle assembly and splitter box so i can give it some revs to see what happens.
So what do you think I should look into now?

Make sure ignition timing does match the setting in SpeeDuino.
Get engine warm and at steady idle.

That makes a lot of sense as the monitor connected to the raspberry Pi blanks its screen as soon as the engine fires. I think I'd better work on the alloy case to house Speedy... Do you ever run successfully without a case?

Some run in plastic cases. Mine was 3D printed. But most are inside cars, not in the engine compartment. Yours can't help but be in close proximity to coils etc. In fact, everything.

Check you have resistor type spatk plugs. Close the gaps up a little.

It's not neccesarily Speedy it's self that is picking up emi. Wires can make very nice antenna.

Any +/- pairs of wires should be twisted pair. Something is putting out emi, and most likely, the crank/cam sensor is picking it up. So cable on these sensors should be shielded. Shielding should only be connected at the speedy end.

I was an electronics tech a long while ago.... Emi is understood. Its just that the coils are encased in metal housings in a tight alloy tunnel inside the rocker covers. I would have thought the emi would be minimal. I have used teflex coax for the connection between speedy and cam and crank sensors. I've even used 3M shielding tape to shield the OEM connectors near the sensors. I imagine though that emi must be being produced in quantities somewhere because the monitors are certainly playing up badly.

If you check the case below, purchased from a Speeduino online shop (that I love doing business with) to put Speedy in... It has plastic end-plates. How do you make an effective Faraday cage when both ends of the enclosure are made of a material which won't stop EM waves penetrating said enclosure?
Fortunately I am going to extend the sides and make some alloy end-plates so this should not be an issue. I guess it's designed for car use only?
Tell me if I'm wrong but it also tells me that the designer did not think emi was much of an issue?
