a fast update on my project.
I managed to use 100% with static code the RX8 dash that I got. Now it's just a matter to put it together to nicer functions and get the data from speedy. Still long way to go, but my main concern was the control of the RX8 dash, which works now!
So far I'm using Uno and the nano

Dazq, I haven't used any code from the CAN IO STD, but I think I will for getting things done faster

With the new dash section I am adding to GPIO your progress will be much helped I would say.
The idea is that as new dashes are reverse engineered they can be added as a compile option (subject to the person who discovered this being happy to allow /provide the code to do so)
So you would choose the rx8 option , another may choose Audi A4 or perhaps the nextion?
That's the plan anyhow.

yes indeed. that is the best option
Personally I selected the RX8 dash because it was the cheapest for playing around with Can bus
But all options are available indeed afterwards.
The VW/Audi/BMW are extremely well documented ones btw
