This does help a lot.
I'll take a look at your gpio std project and the Teensy3.5. (Does the Teensy have a CAN converter chip in it?)

Do you think one could use a CAN shield on a Arduino Mega, then pass-through/output the signals I want from the Arduino Mega into the Speeduino board?
Teensy3.5 has the can interface and only needs the transceiver.

Gpio std is based in a mega with one or two can shields, the gpio std interfaces via serial3 to serial3 on the speeduino. The wiki has lots more info

Hi guy's,

I am following this subject with keen interest as I have a '69 Ford Capri I am fitting an '03 Jaguar V6 engine into and am stumped as to how to control the VVT to the point I was considering searching for a pre '03 engine with the simpler on/off can timing, however in Australia they are not that common.
I have good mechanical knowledge and have built and used a MS ecu in my Escort however this coding thing is way out of my league and am impressed at your willingness to even consider such a task.
Tiijoe, with regards to obtaining engine sensor outputs , would it be easier to install the Arduino mega 2560 in parallel to the factory ecu rather than relying on collecting the data via CAN?
I ask this question as I was considering using a Ford Contour/Mondeo V6 ecu to control spark and emission systems (to please authorities) and run a speeduino for fuel and possibly VVT.
Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob!
I'm afraid that speedy doesn't yet support the variable vvt the later V6 duratec /jaguar aj25/30 engines had.
Work has begun on angular vvt and I did submit some work a while back for the V6 cam wheel decoder. But it is a way off yet.
I have an interest in this as one of my project engines is a late aj30 from an s type Jag.

Thanks for the update, however in the mean time I unless I find an early AJ30 variant I'm thinking I will try using the VVT in an on/off (full advance/retard) arrangement and see what the results are like.

Hi there just to let you know i ran a speedy on my aj30 engine and just used the the vvt as a switch and it worked really quite well! i did a run on my dyno with it off then with it on and found the switch point and the results were noticeably better, this engine did have a turbo strapped to it so i wasnt interested in every last pony N/A more just making sure it was operating more as it was supposed to!

At all load sites ie just making it a graph rather than a map, upto 5300 it was 0 then after it was 100. hope this helps as it worked alright on the engine! (300Hz frequency)

Thanks for your input, can I confirm that you are using the late AJ30 engine post 2002 with the continuously VVT not the early AJ30 up to 2002 with the on/off VVT?

Your build seems interesting, have you a build thread somewhere I can check out, would love to see your project.
