So I have read these 2 posts and I get it.. (i.e. it doesn't really matter that you are injecting 360 out of intake phase as the valves are not open, and the fuel will be sucked in by the intake when it opens on the next rev, or some other intake that is open .)

But what about direct injection on anything with more than 4 cylinders? No I don't have one, I just got this question stuck in my head.

Is there enough of the right type of i/o pins on the arduino mega to do a full 8 injectors?

NO DIRECT INJECTION SUPPORT.

Won't be for a long long time.

Completely different firmware setup needed as it's very very different.

Also different hardware needed to drive the injectors.

Dropbear is of no use.

Do you mean sequential?

The firmware is ready now for 8x8.

There are third party boards that have been made and been around for about 2 years waiting for the firmware to catch up.

Teensy only. Mega doesn't have the timers required.

You can use a Mega for sequential if you want to use the 9th timer with a distributor.

Or run 2 Speeduino boards. 1 for injections .1 for ignition.

This has been covered many times.
