This might be helpful to someone down the road.
Having driven my car all summer with what I came to call prototype wiring I decided to build a second speedy 0.4 and fab up a custom wiring harness. Long story short the board build worked perfectly on the bench. When I plugged in the new harness everything except the temperature gauges worked perfectly.
The symptoms were the IAT registered as -30 and the CLT registered 180. Both at an ambient temp of 70*. In addition, heating and cooling the sensors had no affect on the gauges.
After much digging, Head scratching and thinking about it I discovered that I had 5volts on Both sides of the sensor plug when I should have had a ground on one side. Connecting one side to sensor return ground wire cured the issue.
So if your seeing these sorts of symptoms check your wiring.
