Cheers for the info.

Ive already modified it. Its actually quite cool. The standard upper manifold has a variable length inlet tract butterfly on the other end. it unbolts. And is the same bolt pattern as the TB.

Got some 2.75" alloy tube 45 deg and made an adapter (son alloy welded it up), bolt up sweet, just need to lengthen the TPS cable. If you look close behind the TB you can see the shiny tube.

Ill try to get a photo.

Here's an earlier photo of the Acoustic control plate (Toyota's fancy name for venerable length intake}, with the butterfly removed and bored out. Ive also added a another plate to other end for TB to bolt to.

Moves TB to where i need it, and increases plenum volume.

Another update.

Spun the turbo up the other day and force feed some air into the little V6. Made all the right noises... :)

But when we gave it a rev, water came out the radiator overflow.... hmmm blown head gasket. That would be one of the reasons it was running hot.

Here are a few pic's. Throttle body relocated to front of engine. TPS wiring extended.

Update

I was out racing on the weekend. I should have put more time into a tune before I went, other than throw in some more gas and pull out some timing with IAT.

I had run it, but the engine and air was cool. it wet brilliant :) but on a 25-30 deg C day and heat soak not so :( I think inlet air was getting upwords of 60-70 deg C. I was not expecting that. and just parked at lunch was sitting at 50.

And I had a strange miss/dead time (loosing sync). Bit of a wiggle and moved a few wires got me through the day. Need to get my hands on a scope again to find out where the signal is going wrong. Still has a miss (momentary). I need to dig deeper.

Was performing some tuning the other day, trying to sort the miss.

Problem went away when I went to fixed ign timing. Strange...... Gave it a few more rev's to check. And BANG, back fire. and stop. Locked up.

I have started to strip it down, and its a problem in the bottom end. Cannot see anything with the sump off, but can only get 1/16 turn (sh), locked up to locked up.

RIP little toyota V6 (well all 3 of you that have sacrificed yourselves). This is the end of this journey.

So on to the next.

And maybe a turbo at some point. I will start a new thread once I get some more progress.

Time for an update.

The 4L 6 never happened but is still burbling away in the back ground. Built a new V6...... well a back shed recon with rings bearings and head gaskets (and bolts. one shot wanders.... ) from 3 different engines.

Thought it was time to address the temporary install I initially did. Don't think there was any real issues with it :)

Got some new bits from Turboedge and built up a proper ODB1 interface board, and then set to work on the 3d printer..... 16 hours of printing latter.....

Oh and forgot to mention. Now running 320cc 2Jz injectors on E85. So far so good.

Need to add some more preload to the internal waste gate actuator. Ive read about 5 turns shorter after a slid on fit. Anybody got experience on this.

Cheers

They only change I have made to the standard loom is adding a IAT sensor Using original wires from MAF. And ditched the IAC Stepper. I even use the standard relay and fuses on the main engine loom.
