Help with building your Speeduino, installing it, getting it to run etc.

Hello People,

I joined a couple years ago. Been lurking and gathering information for a while. Last year, I had a crash and spent some time recovering, then rebuilding.

I have a 550 Spyder(Porsche) replica. It is tube frame, mid-engine. Swing axle trans, beefed up and tall(3.44:1) final drive. Disc brakes all around, Airkewld brand. 4 piston front, single piston rear. Adjustable shocks all around, Koni front, QA1 coilovers in rear on the swingaxle. All up weight is 1476 lbs. with almost full tank and some tools.

Motor is Jake Raby type1 2165cc. 78mm stroke, 94 bore. Balanced and blueprinted, 9.8:1 compression, 1.5:1 Pauter roller rockers, Webcam 86B, Headmaster 44 x 37.5 heads. Dual Weber 44IDF, Megajolt crankfire ignition, 172hp at 6000, 147 ft. lbs. at 3200.

I don't want to split the case, engine runs great and has over 40,000 miles on it. So I'm going batch-fire and wasted spark. Already have a cylinder head temp sender. I also have CB Performance 48mm throttle bodies with injectors and rails. And a fuel pump and regulator. These were taken off my friend's type 4 who had SDS injection, but could never get it to run right, it was either pig-rich or way lean. I really think the SDS is made for airplane guys: steady state and slow load changes. Accel enrichment was very problematic.

The CB throttle bodies have a 5/16" or 3/8" common vacuum tap in each throttle body, so I can do MAP sensor(yes, I'll put in a reservoir, VERY lumpy cam). One throttle body also has a built-in TPS. There is a pressure gauge on one fuel rail and the regulator is adjustable.

I have an Innovate MTX-L gauge and sensor. Question: Can I use the analog voltage output into Speeduino for closed loop O2?

I'm about to order a version 0.3.4 board and get started. I'll need a VR conditioner board, coil driver, and an IAT sensor, but not much else beyond building the ECU and making a harness.

ECU will reside behind passenger seat(where Megajolt currently is). I already have power and a relay board there, and the motor is directly behind the seats so a sort harness. My ignition install already has a Ford VR sensor and TPS.

I think I'm pretty well set. What do you guys think?

There isn't much that's suitable on the market, though there is the 3D-printable one noisymime designed, and an offshoot customable version I made from it on Speeduino Slack here: https://speeduino.slack.com/archives/C0 ... 1876105664

If you aren't a member of our Slack chat system, you probably should be. ;) I can drop more files on you if you are interested.
[EDIT]I think apollard also has photos of a commercial box he modded for his boat project on Slack as well.

Noisymime's original design is here. Mine looks like this:
[EDIT]Couldn't find the printing files on Slack (?), so posting them here:

After three years, I have finally moved forward. Ordered a bunch of stuff from turboedge.

Received it all last night, speedy service despite the slowdowns in shipping we're all seeing.

Weaver, very nicely packaged, all looks to have arrived safely. Thank you!

I got a UA4C with all the trimmings: case, stepper driver, bluetooth, VR conditioner.

I've gotten myself some used CB Performance 48mm ITB(Weber IDF bolt pattern) with rails and injectors. The injectors will be replaced, they are low-impedance 35 lb., and I'll be getting some high-impedance 28 lb. disc injectors.

I also have a nice MSD pump and a Mallory regulator for the plumbing side.

Question: do the 6 pins in the middle of the Mega get shortened or completely removed for stepper drive clearance?

I've got some soldering to do. FYI, Weaver's board is beautifully finished and nicely laid out.

I've gotten a lot of work done since my last post.

UA4C all soldered up. VR conditioner installed. Firmware installed, Tunerstudio installed, UA4C selected, and communication established. I loaded the base tune to start.

Ardustim and Druid4Arduino installed and working on a spare Uno. I can vary rpm, and have tested all input channels. TPS, IAT, Temp, and VR all tested and working. I'm using 36-1, my motor is already running Megajolt so the Ford-pattern wheel is good.

I soldered up the wideband controller and tested that separately. I am using the ASPX unit with the tiny LED display. Great value at less than $50 shipped. I just need to pot the circuit board. It outputs 2.5 volts on analog channel in free air after calibration.

I'm still working on bluetooth connectivity with both my laptop and Android phone, but not there yet.

I hooked up a pot to the O2 input, just like with TPS, but cannot get the AFR/Lambda to work. Am I missing something? I re-soldered that harness connector pin, but no joy.

Here it is, all 4 injectors firing in pairs, 2 ignition channels firing, at 1000 rpm. Also Tunerstudio after "calibrating" gauges. I'll have to do this in the car with the actual temp senders and TPS, but for testing, we're good. Except for the Lambda/AFR. Doesn't matter what gauge I use, it gives full lean reading no matter what voltage(0-5) is on the pin.

I'd appreciate any help.

Check settings in Tuner Studio for AFR vs Lambda, maybe you need to choose the right controller from the pull down menu in Tuner Studio.

Thank you LAV1000!

Got it. I'm getting familiar with the software, but these things take a little time, there is a lot to take in and understand.
