Hello, I have this modern diesel engine and I want to make it run with the speeduino v0.3.7. The injectors from this engine work with capacitive discharges so I was wondering what need to be done to make it run. Sensors, modules, etc.

You need a controller meant to run a diesel first and foremost.

So what board can I use? This engine isn't going on a car, I need it just to start and idle.

Did it not have an ECU? modern diesel engine management is very complicated and needs special hardware. I understand that there are aftermarket controllers available but they won't be cheap.

Ok I understand, this engine is a factory rejected and I don't know how it came but right know it doesn't have a ecu and the harness, i wanted to start this engine for my school project so I don't need it to run perfectly

The current speeduino firmware will not run a diesel engine ,and none of the boards support the injectors that would be fitted on the engine also.
Diesel injection is very different to petrol

You would need to design injector drivers that can supply, to the injectors, a higher voltage than the battery can provide and then use the Speeduino injector drivers to trigger that module. You need to read up on how the stock system works, do you need to control the fuel pump? what other controls are needed for the engine to run? is it an electronically controlled throttle? How good are you at electronic design and software? you will get little support on such an unusual project. however, there are application notes online with basic designs for piezo injector drivers.
I've worked on the design of ECUs for diesels for a big OEM, on the bigger engines we would run up to seven squirts per cylinder per cycle, however we had to meet Euro 5 emissions, you may be able to get it to fire and, possibly, idle with two squirts per cycle but its not a trivial task, timing will be very important.
