1 Cylinder 4 stroke Speeduino retrofit newbie question

Hello Speeduino Community,
I am new to this whole custom EFI board thing and I am trying to wrap my head around it (have been to the wiki and back a couple of times) as I will be doing my first retrofit on my old trusty 1 Cylinder 4stroke motorcycle engine. What would be the best and most flexible board to go with? How do I go on with the knock sensor? What would be the best/ easiest solution? Do I even need a knock sensor on a 1 cylinder?
