I am wondering if this coil pack would be a good choice as the basis of my Speeduino Project. The part is available on eBay and a very reasonable price but would Speeduino drive it. Has anybody had any experience with this unit - Wasted Spark Ignition Coil Pack for Audi Seat Skoda VW Polo Golf A3 032905106B.... from the description, I'd say speeduino should be able to drive it.

It's a very popular one. I'm running a pair of them on my V8. Logic level so no igniter required.

+1, that is a popular coil pack with built-n modular coil driver, commonly referred-to as the Bosch "106B". Do a search on the forums for info, especially regarding the suggested reduction of the Speeduino IGN output resistor value, as they seem to need more current to fire reliably. As mentioned, it has an external igniter (coil driver), but as it is contained in the pack as a unit it is treated as a "smart" coil with 12V power, GND and two Speeduino IGN signals.

I've sold loads of these units for 4 cylinder and V8 projects.
They are really robust, though make sure you bolt it to a good ground source.

I offer them with the connector if you want a bundle.

I use that on our Speduino powered race car.
So far, so good.
