Hi all!
Still asking about this "renault" 60-2 flywheel, with theorically 60 teeth, one missing and one long...

Set my trigger settings to 60 teeth / 2 missing, and 276° trigger angle (checked with strobe)

If I do a tooth logger I have 58 "teeth", as 56 same ones, one following (the biggest) and another one smaller.
In that configuration, TS is able to synch and set a pw, rpm raise.... But the engine does not start.

I tried to set 58 teeth per curiosity so 58 / 2 missing, and TS is also able to sync.... Normal?

Thank you so much!

Hi!
I checked different settings:

1) VR+/- inverted, falling edge detected: this is the picture with 1big tooth only

2) VR-/+ inverted, falling edge detected, this is the picture with 2 big teeth

Same signal quality, same teeth number, but something different: the high signal teeth.

What do you think about these pictures? Which one should fit the best for that megane flywheel?

thanks!

Something wrong in the description. You have either VR +/- "correct", or "inverted". There is only one correct polarity on the VR+ wire (+ signal as a tooth approaches, and a - signal as a tooth departs).

Usually, you want the 1 big tooth, with correct polarity. Wire your polarity correctly, and set your Rising/Falling edge to get that 1 big tooth.
  • Disable the fuel pump.
  • Set 60-2 crank speed.
  • Check your sync (filter low or off),
  • ignition LEDs flashing with RPM 1-2-3-4,
  • spark (spark plugs out and grounded) sparking 1-3-4-2, and
  • correct timing (with timing light on HV wire #1).
If no joy, post a tooth log, a run (cranking) log, and your tune (3 files). Also post what did or did not happen. Don't forget Trigger Angle can be -360 to +360.

thank you so much PSIG
the problem is that I don't know what I am supposed to get on TS as a good "trigger signal"
I set trigger angle as falling in detection and so I have smg more "easy to understand for me". If we suppoose a high signal is counted as 2 teeth, so now I have 60 teseth as a total in the case of 2 big ones. I checked with a strobe light tonight, TDC is seen with 280° set ATDC on TS, and with 0° advance while cranking.

So the big question is for me: what kind of signal should we get with that kind of flywheel?

because every configuration is able to be sync by TS, but I am thinking the sync is going away very quickly on some configurations

now the best one I am trusting in (because no reference) is this one, because of 60 teeth as a total if we count the big ones as 2 teeth

This is almost what you want.

That single big tooth is right but it has another tooth showing slightly after it.

This indicates that your settings/polarity are wrong.

This morning I had a more structured approach, I tried both polarities and both detecting ways (falling and rising)
The only way to get only one big tooth is with falling triggering and this is the same as the image above. Will try to start today. I wish the small tooth (which is, anyway bigger than the other) will be not Considered...

Here are the different logs:

4 different situations below, which one is the most convenient for you guys? I am thinking about the one where there is only one big tooth...
