For discussion of Speeduino compatible boards designed / built by other members of the forum and for guidance around making such a board

Yes another standalone Speeduino board.
Ive been working on and off between other boards and this is almost finished.
Got most things on it other than the HC outputs.
Usb is a module, these things a $3 less work for me and are interchangeable when the time comes for different Communication interfaces and I still have the Bluetooth connector.
Fair amount of surface mount, but as im learning and i have through hole parts ive used those for connections between the bottom and top of the board, all SMD on the bottom of the board.
These will be sent off for fab next week after i go over then once again to see if ive missed anything and may add the HC outputs.

My boards arrived and 3/4 built and tested.
Atmega worked first go and took the bootloader, so im happy with that.
This is my first SMD anything, Hand soldering the ATmega wasn't that hard, small tip soldering iron and did 1 pin at a time.

I bet after this experience with SMD you will be incorporating it into future projects more readily? In my opinion SMD just looks cleaner.

Im going to SMD everything from now on.
Mine look a little untidy, trying to keep them straight was a little hard for me.
Im looking into getting a electronic microscope, But don't like the look of most of the cheap ones.

Will finish up this one tonight and bench test it.

Possibly check out using a stencil, they are cheap through oshstencil. Basically you wipe solder paste across the stencil, remove the stencil, and place all the SMD components. When you are ready put the board on a hot plate or heat it with a hot air gun and they will all solder very neatly and cleanly.

Is running.
Seems to the best ive made so far.
Fitted to my VS commodore ute with V6, runs smooth, no hiccups, no Tuner Studio drop outs.
Ive made a video of it running.
I have also driven the car and its perfect.
Im going to work on the design a little more, maybe tidy it up.
Oh and i hate Harley motorbikes as you'll hear at the beginning of the video.
