Any general discussion around the firmware, what is does, how it does it etc.

If you are looking for a speeduino 8x8 solution right now check this one;
https://www.everythingfuelinjection.com ... p149186223

I bought one of these a couple months ago, it will do 8x8 and runs on a stm32. Price is reasonable and the board looks good.
the shipping took a few weeks to get it delivered to the US, but i think it was well worth the wait.
I got mine with the stepper driver, but forgot to add the bluetooth when I ordered. I'm sure it uses a standard BT module, which I have several of, but haven't tried it out yet.
The 8x8 sequential now and now also individual cyl fuel trims.

I managed to get one of Josh's boards and plan on implementing it eventually. I went looking for the files (.sch and .brd) and coming up short. Not been able to find them in the places they were originally pointed to on Github. Did they get removed, or are they just in a place I'm not finding? I believe there was talk of a couple of versions, and I just wanted to see what was out there.
Thanks

If you are talking abouth the teensy adaptor then take a look in the hardware folder on my GitHub fork of speeduino as the original design files are still there . https://github.com/Autohome2/speeduino/ ... %20Adapter

Josh is redesigning the board in kicad hence why it never got moved with the transition to speeduino hardware

Thank you. I didn't want to ask without looking, but I was having no luck finding it. I'm used to working in Eagle, but since Autodesk screwed it up, I have been trying to get my head around KiCad. There is definitely a bit of a curve.

Josh did some streaming and put it on you tube. Very very helpful. :)

I will see if I can find some links

Edit

This one is a good starter for Kicad (though version 6 of kicad dropped on December 25th 2021)

And, I think this one.

There are more if you search for Speeduino Live

I downloaded them with 4k Video Downloader to enable me to easily go back and look stuff up.

I watched Josh's vid on making a breakout board, and it filled some of the gaps I had in understanding the difference between Eagle and KiCad. Making the libraries and making them accessible has always been the challenge in both of them.

If I'm understanding correctly, Josh's adapter board v1.0.0 had pinout differences than the current pin assignments in firmware. Also I have heard that there were issues of the 3.3v driving the mosfets. Anyone have more info on this?

No it should be correct but only for 0.4 boards. And yeah not all mosfets work properly with 3.3v.

pazi88, thanks. That gives me a starting point. I can now compare to the 0.4 and see the differences. I'll also look at what I can add to better drive the fet's.

You would do well to look at pazi88 design for his stm32 module, it has the analog input op amp circuits and the output drivers to boost the 3v3 , it also has digital input 3v3 too.
His designs are on easyeda
