This thread here talks of a lead from Mazda using a separate module, but I have been unable to locate one in UK or Europe

These Mitsubishi modules are early add-on's to the main ECU on several GDI models, 4cyl but lots about and cheap!!! Need to find a circuit diagram

seems that the mc33816 is an interesting chip containing lot more than just the drivers, it has all sorts of diagnostics that would be of little use to us and make the system more demanding on support hardware (software, dev package, programmer, ...)
doing some research I came across two types of injectors; piezoelectric and electromagnetic
the piezoelectric injectors are used mostly on diesels, the electromagnetic seem to be more slated towards GDI
The electro magnetic are basically a peak-and-hold type injectors with 100V peak and 12V hold circuits. I think something like that should be easily made using a boost switching power supply, 555 timer for timing of the peak opening voltage, and regular MOSFETS or IGBT's for the hold.
I'm working on a schematic based on those chips. It is completely standalone with only three connections, 12V, GND, injector fire from ECU.

Now if we can find a more widespread, globally distributed car that uses it beyond just the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.9L engine. A wiring diagram would be nice too, but somebody must have an alldata access.

We've also been pondering this at the shop, but that adds to the list of to-dos that we have that seemingly never ends.

I think we need to be a bit more realistic here, seems like no one has a clear picture of how complex is a direct injection system from both the HW and SW aspect.

answer this simple question: how many aftermarket ecu supports GDI? how much do they cost? there is a reason if almost no one does this.

It's not a chicken/egg scenario.

It's a "coding this will take a lot of work. Who wants to pay for it?"

It has already been suggested that if this is a feature you want, start a bounty. A big one.

It is not a small effort to do what is required.
