Hi All, first time post after reading through some manuals. I am installing a newer (replacement) engine into my Nissan patrol Y62. The original engine has inlet only VVT, whilst the replacement also has 2x exhaust VVT's. Usually for these swaps exhaust VVT is disabled and everything runs on the stock ECU. Instead I would like to retain the stock ECU and install a piggyback Speeduino to run the 2x exhaust VVT's only.
I am hoping to keep the new engine stock for warranty purposes, and this is where I am looking for a coding wizard!
The crank trigger wheel is a 36-2-2 where the missing pairs of teeth are 180 degrees apart.
Both cam trigger wheels have 4 teeth at 90 degree spacing. The VVT sprockets have a 20 degree cam range / 40 degree crank. I've mocked up the expected signal pattern, and it seems possible to identify cam angle relative to crank.
If anyone has advise or is interested in taking this on, I'd appreciate your input. Thanks!
